At The Broken Lense, we are not so much interested in capturing the visual happenings as we are in capturing the truth of the moment, the human essence, that which transcends the visual. Benjamin Himes
Benjamin Himes is a pro athlete turned writer and photographer based in Austin, TX and Amsterdam, NL. Gathering from his experience with the human form through athletics, martial arts, and his dedication to the study of Taoist philosophy, he prides himself on his ability to capture the essence and intimacy of the body with his camera. Working primarily with the happy accident of a broken camera lens, Ben has discovered a congruence with the fragility of time and its relationship to photography, bestowing upon his work a rare softness. His gentle respect for the textures, colors, light, and shadows that make this world cannot help but shine through in his oeuvre.
